This area is dense with empty tombs dug deep into the ground. At one time they contained the earthly remains and granite caskets of the priests and pharaohs that can now be viewed at the Cairo Museum.
The remaining structures are made of sandstone and at one time a wall surrounded the entire complex.
It's not a popular tourist spot because the pyramid is fairly small, but travelers who are "aware" hold great admiration for this temple.
